World of Warcraft: Legion Pre-Expansion Patch Releases
In preparation for World of Warcraft: Legion , Blizzard has released a large patch update, adding a variety of features, class changes and content! Whilst the main bulk of Legion’s content is unavailable, this patch is the harbinger of things to come, with demonic invasions beginning in the coming weeks leading up to August 30th.
New Features: Appearance Wardrobe
Once you log in for the first time, any pieces of gear you own (that’s soul-bound) or have earned from completing a quest before will be added to the appearance tab in your collection menu. To navigate the menu, simply select the item’s type (helms, shoulder-pads, etc) and select the class that can equip the gear. You can also search for appearances you may not own already, upon which the menu will display the location that you can acquire the piece.
It is important to note that only classes that can equip that type of gear can use certain appearances, meaning cloth armor for warriors is unusable. The system is also oddly picky about what cosmetic items it will allow, meaning items such as the spring circlet or crown of the summer fire festival cannot be added. To ensure all of your items are added into the menu, make sure to log into all of your alts to gather their items.
As with any expansion patch, Legion has brought a swathe of fixes, power balancing, and outright extreme changes to how many classes play. The largest of these changes is the survival hunter class, switching from a ranged trap based specialization to a melee class. The second largest change comes to the rogue class, with combat being renamed “Outlaw”, naturally becoming themed around pistols and cutlasses, giving any pirate lovers a chance to stretch their sea legs.
Thankfully with the months wait until the full launch of Legion, there’s plenty of time to experiment with the classes available. For those starting a new character or using the level 100 boost, Class trials now exist to teach the player the fundamentals of their class. These short tutorials are a welcome addition to helping stem the tide of unsure and uneducated players that the new expansion will surely invite.
What’s to come
Shortly before the full release of Legion, the burning legion itself will begin it’s invasion of azeroth, with demonic hotspots popping up all over the games world. Players can fight these demons for exclusive gear, cool new toys, and the thrill of beating back the intial onslaught, before the main battle begins on august 30th.
Finally, for those wishing to jump in to the Demon Hunter class as soon as they can, Blizzard has not yet given a stated date for when they will be available for creation, but will be playable at least one week before the expansion launch, for those that digitally pre-purchased Legion through their online store.
