Wildstar’s F2P Survival!
With Wildstar F2P soon coming I feel it’s important to talk about what this game needs to fix, add, or remove. Id was going to post this on the WS forums but lets be honest, that would not end well.
Bugs, Bugs, and more bugs
This is the first and foremost issue this game has. Silly and long term bugs that have been in the game from beta and have yet to be fixed. Why? Why has this been allowed to be the case for so many months. World bosses(Honeygrave and Zoetic), challenges, quests, raid bosses, and loot. All NEED to be 100% working before F2P happens.
I seriously can not believe that this is still in the game. I get that the developers wanted to be “oldschool” but Attunements are just about as oldschool as my Atari. They are meaningless gates that stand in the way of players enjoying what, in my opinion, is the best the MMO genre has to offer. Do you love raiding? Ok great first Grind your aruin butt off and get beloved with your faction, grind 150 elder gems, then do some more quests, then go kill 12 world bosses. Awesome now go run each dungeon and adventure at least once on Veteran mode. On top of that you need to get a bronze rank or greater in each of them but don’t worry even if you kill all the bosses, all done? Awesome! Now you can finally raid.
Attunements are pointless and a complete waste of time. This will remove any new players wanting to keep playing if they have to do this for every single toon they get to 50. If carbine wants to keep newer players constantly making new toons and actually staying with the game then they need to remove world bosses, the grind for the key and just make it so they have to beat adventures and dungeons once maybe even twice. Well except Malgrave trail…screw that place!
Lower Level content, zones, and dungeons
So over the last 2 weeks ive playing the game again. One thing that I have been mind shattering annoyed with is that low level dungeons do not exist. Oh sure they are there, the code for them in game is there but have I seen a Queue for them in the last 2 weeks? Not even once! The longest Ive waited was almost 3 hours and 45 minutes. I mean I got some good hearthstone games in but never saw a Queue pop. “You must have been Queue’d for DPS” Sadly I wish this was the issue but as a healer or tank….shouldn’t be a issue.
Then lower level zones and anything that is not level 50 needs to be much more new player friendly and they need more dungeons that are level 10+ and not just protostar academy. I see way to many reddit threads or forum threads about “I am level 15 and getting board” etc…. That is because carbine thought “hey screw level 1-19, lets only make content for 20 and up”. I still have yet to understand why they did this when half the team worked on vanilla wow and they have countless examples of how to create a engaging MMO. They need dungeons at level 15, 20, 25, 30, 35, 40, and 50. They also need a ton more of them. Players want a verity when playing a MMO. Its super annoying to have to run the same dungeon over and over because that’s the only one at your level bracket for 20+ levels.
Loot also needs to be streamlined but honestly lets start with lower level content and then work our way out of training pants.
PvP or Player vs Player
Honestly I don’t even know where to start with this……….Just fix it. Joking aside there is zero pvp end game and there never has been. Rate battlegrounds and practice BGs give nothing special for doing one or the other. Warplots are still a half ass’ed concept that was pushed out for…reasons? Players are punished for picking anything other than random BGs in the Queue screen and the GOOD halls of the bloodsworn is still a messy AOE rave party.
Arenas are not even relevant at this point, its the same 12-16 people Queuing at once during set times they plan on the forums. Instead of just being able to form a team and climb the ladder. Most of the current players have used exploits and other means of BS to progress. The new gear system allows for you to have epic gear but takes literally the only form of progression away.
At this point I feel PvP just needs to be scrapped and brought back when the player base is stronger and carbine has a mind set that isn’t 10000% PvE focused.
My hope is that carbine fixes all of these issues before or on the drop of the big free to play patch. They need to sit down and put their egos aside and work together. Creating a game that people want to keep playing, coming back, and then tell their friends about it. I know this game can be good and the community knows how to improve it. Carbine listen to your community and don’t let your ego get in the way anymore.
