WildStar: State of the Universe Address
Carbine Studios’ Game Director, Chad “Pappy” Moore, has released a new update regarding WildStar’s plans for the rest of 2017. The update and release comes a little over a month since the release of The Primal Matrix update and contains some exciting news for WildStar players! As expected, more content is on the way, including a feature which has not been mentioned since before the WildStar Reloaded update in September, 2015.
The first major announcement is that the Redmoon Terror raid hard mode is coming, but in the form of adding Prime Difficulty options. Prime Difficulty will also be added to other content, though, as well. Pappy even states that further Prime Difficulty scaling will be added, suggesting we may see difficulties above and beyond the current max Prime Difficulty:
So what’s on the horizon, you might ask? Lots! First and foremost, Prime Raids! We’re bringing the Prime difficulty scaling to the most difficult content in the game, and now our raiders will not only be able to enjoy a new level of challenge in our existing epic raid content, they’ll also have better chances at earning the most powerful gear. Along with Prime Raids, we’ll also be adding Prime Level difficulties to more Dungeons and Expeditions, as well as increasing the number of Prime Levels that are available for all of our scaled content—giving all of you more choices on where to earn essences and get your badass gear.
Pappy also announced some Quality-of-Life improvements that will be coming into WildStar later this year:
In addition to these content additions, we’ll be releasing a number of quality-of-life improvements—like an account-level bank and PvE Leaderboards—in order to continue improving and enhancing your overall enjoyment and excitement of the game at every level.
Meanwhile, housing enthusiasts will be most excited by his last announcement:
And lastly, we’re planning to release the long-awaited Communities feature later on this year, which will allow players to come together in housing plots and collaborate in new and exciting ways. Having already played with this feature myself, I can tell you that it’ll open up a whole new world of creative possibilities for our dedicated housing designers and their unlimited imaginations. I can’t wait to see what you guys come up with!
Much speculation surrounds the exact mechanics of how Communities – formerly referred to as Neighborhoods – will work. A tab for Communities was added to the Housing Social Tab during the WildStar Reloaded update, but has not been active since then. Many new features were on the PTR during WildStar Reloaded such as the ability to rotate FABKit Plugs and even purchase additional plugs, but those features have yet to make it to the live servers. Some believe Communities will simply let you connect several Housing Plots together, but the project has been in development for a very long time, meaning it could have changed a lot since early datamined information and so it’s anyone’s guess as to how exactly this feature will function.
Pappy closed the update with the usual “More info to come” and stated that we can expect the next update in a couple weeks – of course, this is subject to change as with any game update.
