Wildstar : Power of the Primal Matrix Details revealed
Following a series of teaser clips hinting at the upcoming Wildstar update, Carbine Studios has fully revealed the new Power of the Primal Matrix patch, showcasing new ways to power up your hero on the planet Nexus.
The Primal Matrix
The Primal Matrix is a new system to augment a character’s abilities once the level cap has been reached. Due to the Entity still dominating the battle for the universe, Drusera has decided she has no choice but to unlock the hidden potential in the player, revealing new primal essences , which can be used to power up stats, unlock AMP points, and even new abilities!
Essences come in four flavours : Red, Blue, Green, and Purple. Each node requires essence to power, meaning that each step of the way is completely up to the player on how to advance. As the player progresses further through the Primal Matrix, the cost for each upgrade will become more expensive, meaning that planning out how to upgrade yourself is a must. Each of essence’s are convertible to the other type, with the cost currently being 1:1 (except if it is to purple, which is 20:1).
Essence can be earned by completing high level dungeons, daily quests, or weekly world bosses. These essences are region wide, so you can be flexible with deciding which one of your bad-asses your going to power up.
There will also be three new character stats introduced via the Primal Matrix: Toughness, Tenacity, and Hope. Toughness makes you do damage as your enemies health decreases, Tenacity will make you take less damage as your own lowers, and Hope will improve your healing done to lower health targets. And as your Primal Matrix nodes are unlocked, you’ll increase your Heroism rating—a trackable number that allows you to easily gauge your relative power increases post-level 50.
Prime Difficulty Scaling
And it wouldn’t make sense to give players all that power, and not give them a way to show it off! The new Prime difficulty system provides a fresh take on old content for max level players. By setting a prime difficulty rating on a dungeon in the content finder, players can take on progressively harder enemies, with progressively scaled loot! Each level has a recommended Heroism rating, providing a good benchmark for what’s in store for challengers. These dungeons will also offer more Primal Essence, creating a simple challenge about being the toughest of the hardcore, with the gear to match. Prime 0 replaces the Veteran dungeon setting, and the difficulty levels scale up from there. Prime difficulty scaling will initially be featured in two classic dungeons (Ruins of Kel Voreth and Stormtalon’s Lair), two classic Expeditions (They Came from Fragment Zero and The Gauntlet), and in two new pieces of content arriving with Power of the Primal Matrix: Coldblood Citadel and Evil from the Ether.
For Players yet to reach the level cap, the system also works in reverse, having the dungeon scale to the level of the weakest player in the group, allowing friends of all levels to run dungeons together! Loot will also scale personally, so higher level players won’t feel cheated for helping friends.
New PvE content -Coldblood Citadel and Evil from the Ether
The new update will also feature one new dungeon and a new expedition mission to go with it. ColdBlood Citadel picks up from where the Vault of the Archon left off in Arcterra, with the osun leader Harizog Coldblood dead after a confrontation with the heroes. But the Osun Darkwitches are not done with Harzig, and seek to ressurect his spirit to defend the citadel once more. In this new scalable 5-player Prime dungeon, you’ll be called upon to strike at the very heart of the Osun plot. This dungeons caps off the Arcterra experience, tying up the Osun loose end in the zone for good.
For a more laid back (but still awesome) experience, the Evil from the Ether expedition takes players on a trip to the recently re-found Mordesh escape ship – Zarkov’s shade. Once gone missing after attempting to pass the Dominion blockade of Grismara, this eerie shuttle has appeared on the edge of Nexus, just in time for an enterprising Ekose to make his fortune trying to salvage the darn thing. Although what may be inside may not be worth bargaining for….
With all these new features , the Power of the Primal Matrix has yet to be fully revealed! Once the Wildstar test realms update on the 10th of January, only Carbine knows the depths of whats to come. For more information, check out the official blog-post here!
