WildStar: Alternate Progression DevConnect
On February 1st, 2017, Game Director Chad Moore (“Pappy”) posted the most recent DevConnect on the WildStar forums, asking for player’s feelings and ideas regarding alternate advancement systems. Although participation in the discussion has since closed as of February 14th, many topics and great ideas were discussed within the thread.
In the thread’s opening, Pappy had the following to say:
As most of you know, we recently announced our next content update—Power of the Primal Matrix. In this update, we’re introducing a new max-level alternate progression system called the Primal Matrix, which enables players to continue to improve and enhance their gear and their characters outside of the more traditional vehicle for doing so, which would be increasing the level cap.
Alternate advancement systems like this are common in many games, and we’re extremely excited to release ours in the coming weeks. That being said, we’re very interested in hearing from all of you about your opinions concerning alternative advancement systems, and ideas as to where we might focus our efforts in the future once the Power of the Primal Matrix goes live. To be clear, this isn’t a feedback thread on the upcoming update (we have PTR forums for that—go check them out!).
Some of the topics of discussion Pappy offered included:
- Players opinions about alternate advancement in games, generally
- Areas and systems where players think alternative advancement really shines and perhaps pitfalls to avoid
- Ideas about future alternative advancement systems in WildStar

Would you like to see Achievements mean more? What could they reward? Is there something in the PVE or PVP side of the game you feel is missing, or that could help you feel like you’re progressing more on your favorite character? Perhaps a ranking system for Player Housing? Let us know in the comments below, and stay tuned here on QueueTimes for more WildStar news and updates!
