This Weekend in Movies February 26th
Set in Egypt, Horus (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau) tries to fight the Egyptian god of darkness Set (Gerard Butler) but is defeated and Set steals the throne of the Egyptian empire and enslaves its people. Ben (Brenton Thwaites) a mortal teen must become allies with Horus to save Egypt and win back the throne. This movie looks ok but there was a huge uproar regarding the cast not actually being Egyptian. I think its just another thing for people to complain about but I won’t get started on that. Hopefully its an enjoyable film and not to horrible.
Cast: Gerard Butler (300, Gamer), Nikolaj Coster-Waldau (Game of Thrones, The Other Women), Elodie Yung (Daredevil, G.I. Joe: Retaliation), Abbey Lee (Mad Max: Fury Road, Caprice), Brenton Thwaites (The Giver, Maleficent), Geoffrey Rush (Pirates of the Caribbean, The King’s Speech) and Rufus Sewell (A Knight’s Tale, Tristan + Isolde)
Director: Alex Proyas (The Crow, I Robot)
Following a group of criminals and crooked cops who are blackmailed by the Russian Mafia and must pull off an extremely challenging heist. In order for them to pull it off they have to distract all cops by killing a rookie cop, Chris Allen (Casey Affleck). Although the plan goes smoothly, Chris survives and tries bringing down the criminals that tried to kill him. Im completely on board for this film because the cast is amazing plus Norman Reedus who I absolutely love is in this film so ya I’ll be there to see it.
Cast: Gal Gadot (Fast Five, Fast & Furious 6), Teresa Palmer (Warm Bodies, I Am Number Four), Kate Winslet (Steve Jobs, Divergent), Norman Reedus (The Walking Dead, The Boondock Saints), Aaron Paul (Breaking Bad, Need for Speed), Casey Affleck (Gone Baby Gone, Interstellar), Chiwetel Ejiofor (12 Years a Slave, Children of Men), Anthony Mackie (The Adjustment Bureau, Captain America: The Winter Soldier), Woody Harrelson (The Hunger Games, Zombieland), Clifton Collins Jr. (Star Trex, Mindhunters) and Michael Kenneth Williams (12 Years a Slave, The Road)
Director: John Hillcoat (Lawless, The Road)
Based on the true story of the very tenacious, underdog who would be the first person to represent Great Britain in ski jumping Eddie “The Eagle” Edwards would rise to the occasion even after being put down time and time again. He eventually would win the hearts of everyone during the 1988 Winter Olympics.
Cast: Taron Egerton (Kingsman: The Secret Service, Legend), Hugh Jackman (X-Men, The Prestige), Christopher Walken (Catch Me If You Can, Wedding Crashers), Jo Hartley (This Is England, Indred) and Tim McInnerny (101 Dalmatians, Nothing Hill)
