Overwatch’s Newest Hero Orisa , Protector of Numbani!
Contrary to everyone’s belief that Overwatch’s newest hero would be Doomfist, the newest champion for Blizzard’s FPS is Orisa, the Omnic Defender! Using shields, gravity wells and the ability to buff her team’s damage, Orisa is more then likely to become a staple for the game.
Built by the 11-year old genius Efi Oladele after a close encounter at the Numbani airport with supervillian Doomfist, Orisa was designed as a champion of the people, able to protect and serve anyone in danger. Her existence is interesting, as she is the first Omnic hero in Overwatch built in recent times, raising questions as to how others may interact with her.
Her role as a tank is kept by serving as a team’s “Anchor”, capable of negating damage with either a quick deploy-able barrier (similar to Reinhardt’s shield) or her ability FORTIFY , for which Orisa temporarily reduces damage she takes, and cannot be affected by action-impairing effects. She even comes with a unique crowd-control option : HALT! , a detonatable projectile that can pull in enemies towards it, making the enemy team an easy target for any attacks (such as Hanzo’s ultimate). Her ultimate Supercharger functions extremely similarly as mercys attack boosting beam, but this time effecting anyone in proximity of the totem that Orisa put’s down. While each of these abilities can feel slightly borrowed from other heroes, Orisa makes them her own, putting a unique spin on the expected function of each ability.
From reports off the Public Test Realm, Orisa works amazingly well with established hero compositions, meaning that it looks like she`ll be a popular choice for many players looking for a new way to enjoy Overwatch. Her abilities mesh well with other heroes and situations (such as sucking enemies into a team-mate’s ultimate ability)!
