Overwatch League Dallas Fuel Member xQc Suspended!
Not long after the Philadelphia Fusions had to take a leave of absence, It seems yet another Overwatch League team is facing difficulties. The Dallas Fuel team’s main “tank” xQc had his account suspended yesterday for intentionally throwing games.
For those unaware of why losing on purpose is a bannable offense, here is a short explanation:
When you reach a certain rank in Overwatch ranked mode, you face enemies of an equal skill to your win/loss rating, thus slowing the speed of which a player can acquire golden weapons from ranked win points. By throwing games, the player can lower their rating, making their games easier, but also dragging down any team-mates with them. This is a clear abuse of the game’s mechanics, and inconveniences lower ranked players who now have to deal with a much higher skilled opponent.
While those in the Overwatch community have argued that many players do this and are left unpunished, it is clear that Blizzard intends to heavily scrutinise it’s professional players as a way to send a message to others.
A worrying part of this is that xQc has faced ingame suspension multiple times now, so this may lead to either League sanctions or Dallas Fuel benching him for part of the season.
