Overwatch Comic “Uprising” Is a Blast From The Past
In the newest in the line of Blizzard’s Overwatch story comics, Issue no 12: Uprising gives an all too brief glimpse at what overwatch was like in it’s heyday, and begins to hint at something more…
in “Uprising,” readers travel seven years into Overwatch’s past, witnessing a flashpoint in the conflict between omnics and humans. On the eve of a historic peace accord, King’s Row is seized by an extremist faction of robots known as Null Sector. The British government forbids Overwatch from interceding, which means Strike Commander Jack Morrison must decide whether to disobey orders or stand by while thousands of lives are in peril.
As a teaser to an upcoming content reveal as hinted by this ominous twitter post, Uprising presents the kind of trouble Overwatch dealt with as the Omnic crisis declined. With the world’s governments beginning to turn on those who used to protect it, things are becoming much more gray for the heroes, with Gabriel Reyes (soon to become the villainous Reaper) pushing more for Overwatch’s black ops team to do what the regular team cannot.
Over-all this comic feels like a normal ocurrence in the lives of the Overwatch heroe, which feels slightly disappointing personally. While its understandable that not EVERY comic will have a major event taking place, some of what’s begun to be hinted at feels just tantalisingly out of reach. Hopefully the upcoming event will satisy those cravings to know even more.
