Heroes of the Storm Introduces Weekly Brawls
Just like it’s FPS Overwatch, Blizzard Entertainment is bringing the random chaos of weekly “Brawls” to Heroes of the Storm!
Announced today, Blizzard has wasted no time in explaining how this system will breathe new life into the standard MOBA format of HotS.
For starters, new types of maps will be available. There are three kinds of Heroes Brawl battlegrounds: standard maps with mutators (changes to the regular champion abilities) , brand-new arenas, and single-lane battlegrounds. All made specifically for Heroes Brawl.
Some examples of these new maps are:
- Punisher arena
Rack up points by killing enemy heroes and Punishers. The first team to score 100 points wins!
- Sky temple arena
- Capture temples and use their energy beams to destroy the enemy core!
- Garden Arena
- Kill the Garden Terrors and Shamblers, then collect their seeds. The first team to collect 100 seeds wins!
These changes will effect how the game is played, and will even alter several character’s abilities, depending on the brawl. For example, Sgt hammer players finding that their tank’s accelerator is permantly pushed down, causing them to always be on the move.
Heroes of the Storm’s brawls will even be effecting how you choose your champion! you may either have preset heroes, you may shuffle (pick your hero from a custom lineup), or pure random. Look for new hero selection modes coming soon™.
Even if you don’t win that many games, Blizzard will still reward you for trying out the new game-type. As a reward for completing 3 brawls each week, you`ll receive prizes from player icons, to large gold sum, which will provide newer players a great way to bolster their ranks and grow their hero collection.
This new mode will debut on October 17th, following it’s testing on the PTR starting October 10th.
