Blizzcon 2016 Hearthstone What’s next? Panel Recap
This year’s Blizzcon brough with it the reveal of a brand new hearthstone expansion : The Mean Streets of Gadgetzan. Featuring crime, gangwar, and an aesthic that can only be described as if the roaring 20s was hit by a goblin trike.
After players bravely defeated the old gods, and wrangled rogue mages for one night in Karazhan, the Hearthstone developers decided the players needed a nice break in scenic Gadgetzan. However, things have gotten even seedier (if it was possible) in this neutral city, as the cataclysm caused the landlocked city to become a bustling port town.
Now torn between three criminal factions, the streets of Gadgetzan are overflowing with crime, potions, and shadowy corners.
The hearthstone art team dissected the in-game Gadgetzan art, then adding their own spin on the city, to make back alleys feel like they had back alleys, whilst still maintaining the Hearthstone humor.
Currently Gadgetzan is led by Mayor Noggenfogger, but the real power in the city is held by three gangs:
The Grimy Goons – Tuskarr, kobolds, and even Gnolls. Leading the street level crime with high-powered weaponry, these malicious miscreants love nothing more then ruining your day.
The Jade Lotus – Pandaren assassins, using dark arts, and keeping darker secrets. Striking from the shadows to steal any treasure they want.
The Kabal – Trolls, Dreanei, Harpies and even Arrakoa have banded together to weave the forces of darkness to their bidding. Utilizing unnatural potions, enchantments and trinkets, the Kabal is ready to let chaos reign across the city.
Each of these factions bring new Tri-class cards, usable by three classes!
- Grimy Goons: Hunter, Paladin, Warrior
- Kabal: Mage, Priest, Warlock
- Jade Lotus: Druid, Rogue, Shaman
Each of these tri-class cards will bring a new level of versatility to Hearthstone’s arena, as these powerful cards wont be limited to just one class.
With so many new cards revealed, Look out for the mean streets of Gadgetzan to spill out into the game, coming later this year.
