George Bailey, has spent his whole life helping the fellow residents of Bedford Falls. He runs the building and loan that his father started and is the only thing keeping the evil Mr. Potter from taking over the entire town. On the eve of Christmas, his uncle Billy heads to the bank with their deposit and ends up misplacing it. Mr. Potter finds the money but keeps it hidden. When George realizes that he will be held accountable, go to jail and the company will be shut down he contemplates suicide so everyone will be better off. Clarence, an angel, comes down to help George Bailey discover what life would have been like if he never existed.

After they return from war, Bob Wallace and Phil Davis team up and create a dynamite song and dance act. One day before they head to their next location they go watch a sister act and meet Betty and Judy Haynes, sisters of an old pal in the army. Betty and Judy are booked at an Inn in Vermont for the holiday and Wallace and Davis decide to join them. When they arrive they see that their old army commander, General Waverly, is the innkeeper. They make it their goal to give him the best Christmas surprise.
